Grundsatz

Spottir funktioniert ohne Konto.

Rechtsgrundlage: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO.

Arten in deiner Nähe

Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a DSGVO, jederzeit abschaltbar.

Speicherdauer

Profildaten bis zur Löschung des Profils. Nicht angenommene geteilte Sichtungen 24 Stunden. Nutzungszähler höchstens rund einen Monat.

Empfänger und Drittländer

Cloudflare (Hosting), Google (Gemini, AdMob), iNaturalist, Wikimedia, DiceBear, TelemetryDeck, Apple.

Deine Rechte

Auskunft, Berichtigung, Löschung, Einschränkung, Datenübertragbarkeit, Widerspruch und Widerruf erteilter Einwilligungen (Art. 15 bis 21 und Art. 7 DSGVO). Dafür genügt eine E-Mail. Außerdem Beschwerde bei einer Datenschutz-Aufsichtsbehörde.

In short

Spottir works without an account. Your sightings, photos and locations stay on your device and, with iCloud on, in your private iCloud database at Apple. We cannot access them.

AI identification

When you ask for an identification, the app sends the chosen photos, your language, optional hints and a coarse place description to our server (Cloudflare Workers). The server passes the photos to Google Gemini (Google Ireland Ltd.) and iNaturalist for recognition and does not store them. To limit usage we process a pseudonymous hashed device identifier, your IP address (briefly) and, for subscribers, Apple's transaction identifier. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

Species near you

For the regional species list the app sends your approximate location directly to iNaturalist; species texts and images come from iNaturalist and Wikipedia. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

Friends (optional)

Only if you create a profile: sign-in uses Sign in with Apple. We store a hash of your Apple user identifier, username, display name, avatar, counters (sightings, species, level, XP, recently seen species), friendships, shared posts including photo and message, sightings shared with a friend including location, reactions, reports and blocks, and your device's push token. We do not store your email address. Avatars are generated by DiceBear from a random value. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

Deletion: Settings → Delete profile removes the profile and all of the above from our server immediately.

Advertising

The free version shows ads by Google AdMob (Google Ireland Ltd.), which may process device identifiers and usage data. Personalised ads only with your consent (consent dialog and Apple's tracking prompt), Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; revocable in iOS Settings. Without consent: non-personalised ads.

Usage statistics and crash reports

Only with your consent (Settings → Privacy) the app sends anonymous usage signals and crash/hang diagnostics to TelemetryDeck (EU). No profile, no cross-app identifier. Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; can be switched off at any time.

Purchases

Purchases are handled by Apple. We receive no payment data, only which subscription is active.

Retention

Profile data until you delete the profile. Shared sightings that were not accepted: 24 hours. Usage counters: about one month at most.

Recipients and third countries

Cloudflare (hosting), Google (Gemini, AdMob), iNaturalist, Wikimedia, DiceBear, TelemetryDeck, Apple. Transfers to providers in the USA rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection and withdrawal of consent (Art. 15 to 21 and Art. 7 GDPR). An email is enough. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
